Al Ahly set to be without Mosimane for Club World Cup

Al Ahly have suffered a massive blow ahead of the Fifa World Cup as head coach Pitso Mosimane has tested positive for Covid-19.

Mosimane is expected to miss his side’s Club World Cup opening game against Mexican outfit Monterrey on Saturday evening at the Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

In a statement, the Cairo giants said: “Ahmed Abu Abla, the team’s doctor, stated that Pitso Mosimane, Al Ahly head coach, tested positive for Covid-19.

“Abu Abla said that Mosimane underwent another Covid-19 test today. The team’s doctor added that our coach’s condition is stable, and he is currently self-isolated.”

Al Ahly qualified for the Club World Cup after being crowd African champions’ last campaign.

However, they will be without their coach on Saturday and several of their key players, who are on national duty for their respective nations at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon). Some are out with injury, including Percy Tau.
