Safa to investigate Gauteng Motsepe League match incident
The South African Football Association (Safa) called for an investigation into an incident in which a referee had to be whisked away following the conclusion of the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League clash between Dondol Stars FC and MM Platinum (La Masia).
According to eNCA, the head of Safa referees is set to investigate the ugly scenes that occurred this past Saturday at Muckleneck Grounds in Mamelodi.
This comes after fans were unhappy with how the match official handled the game.
However, the referee managed to get away with the intervention of Dondol chairman Lordwick Makhura and security.
Platinum won the game with a 1-0 scoreline and were declared as Stream B winners with 32 points from 16 outings.
Incidents of match officials being assaulted have been reported in numbers across the country which tarnishes the image of the South African football third-tier.
