Queiroz describes Senegal game as ‘World Cup finale’

Egypt head coach Carlos Queiroz has highlighted the significance of their Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Senegal, labelling the first leg as a ‘World Cup finale’.

The Pharaohs will fight it out against the Lions of Teranga for one of Africa’s five spots in the World Cup, set to be staged later this year in Qatar.

Egypt will welcome Senegal in the first leg at the Cairo International Stadium on Friday evening, with the second leg to be held in Dakar on March 29th.

“Everybody knows, Senegal game will be a World Cup finale to us,” Queiroz told ONTime Sports.

“Things are going well, and fortunately, there are no injuries among our ranks. The players are motivated and excited for the matches; it’s our chance to play in the World Cup.

“The game will not be easy for us, but it also won’t be easy for our opponents.

Queiroz added: “We will do everything we can for the fans who are supporting us, it’s a challenge, but we can come out on top.

“I am asking the fans to stand by our side on Friday, we want to see the Egyptian flag on every window.

“I want the parents to dress their children the national team shirt; we need you to be as excited and motivated as the players. The supporters are the twelfth player; I want them wearing the national team shirts in the stadium. They can make the difference.”
