Unbelievable Eriksen’s fairytale continues

Christian Eriksen has now found the back of the net in three successive games after scoring in both games for Denmark during the international break, following his return to the national team after nine months he had suffered a cardiac arrest during Euro 2020.

The midfielder scored his first goal for Brentford since December 2019, as they got the better of Chelsea 4-1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

Eriksen joined the ‘Bees’ in the January transfer window period on a six-month deal with an option to extend until June 2023.

In one of his interviews with the Danish broadcaster DR1 before his comeback, Eriksen made it clear that his goal is to play football again.

“I want to play. That’s been my mindset all along. It’s a goal, a dream,” said the Danish International.

“Whether I’ll be picked is another thing. But it’s my dream to come back. I’m sure I can because I don’t feel any different. Physically, I’m back in top shape.

“I want to prove I’ve moved on and that I can play again.”

The 30-year-old footballer’s goal helped Brentford to their first win over Chelsea since 1939.

Brentford are now on 33 points, 11 clear of Watford, who are languishing at the basement of the Premier League table.

I, for one, have never seen a story like this before. Now, the big question is, will Eriksen’s inspirational return from cardiac arrest continue beyond this point?

Nonetheless, it’s unbelievable. It’s a fairytale run.
