BCM Stars, Spears matter escalate to High Court

Safa Eastern Cape has issued a statement regarding the provincial playoff tie between BCM Stars and SA Spear of the Nation which was scheduled to take place on Saturday, 30 April.

This comes after BCM made it clear that they will pursue an appeal at Spears ruling as they are not going to “surrender into injustice”.

Just last week, Eastern Cape Disciplinary Committee (ECDC) handed down its judgment on an abandoned first leg of the provincial playoff match due to a clash between supporters.

BCM were found guilty of ugly scenes that took place at Issac Wolfson Stadium a fortnight ago, and the verdict’s outcome ruled in favour of Spears, who were awarded three points.

The ECDC confirmed that the matter has escalated to the National Legal Department.

As a result, the provincial playoffs are now postponed indefinitely.

“Please be advised that all the provincial ABC Motsepe decider games that scheduled to take place on the 30th April 2022 are now postponed indefinitely due to the ongoing case that ensued on a game between BCM Stars and SA Spears of the Nation, that is now escalated to National Legal Department,” said ECDC in a statement.
