Malesela worried that Top 8 chances are slipping up
Marumo Gallants head coach Dan Malesela is worried that the clubs’ chances of securing a top-eight finish in the DStv Premiership are slipping up but insists they are satisfied with what the team has achieved this season.
Gallants are five points below the top eight position, with only two matches remaining before the season ends.
But with the club having already qualified for the CAF Confederations Cup by virtue of being in the Nedbank Cup final, Malesela says they won’t be selfish and chew more than they can bite.
“The biggest worry is that our chances of the top eight are busy slipping up, but I also don’t want to be selfish, you know, and I don’t want us to be selfish,” said Malesela ahead of their League match against TS Galaxy on Saturday.
“We should be aware of the fact that maybe sometime we may chew more than we have to because we get the top eight, and then we will have the Confederations Cup, then you will have the league, and you don’t know with the world cup coming and the Afcon how congested our fixtures are going to be so.
“So somewhere you could be saved as much as one wants to be in all competitions and win all competitions, but we should appreciate what we have, you know, we are secured now in the league, and we have the Nedbank Cup final to play so one needs to be satisfied,” he said.
Gallants will wrap up their season with a hoke match against Sekhukhune United on Saturday, 21 May.
