Chiefs’ Blom eyeing revenge against Richards Bay
Kaizer Chiefs defender Njabulo Blom is eyeing revenge as they face newly promoted and on-form Richards Bay at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday evening [8:00pm].
In their first-ever meeting, the Natal Rich Boyz stunned Amakhosi in the last 32 of the Nedbank Cup last year.
That shock result is still fresh in the minds of Kaizer Chiefs fans ahead of their DStv Premiership clash this evening.
What makes it even more interesting is that the newly promoted KZN side has started their season well and are still yet to taste defeat.
Blom, who was part of the team that was eliminated from the last 32, admits playing Richards Bay is a complex task but trusts his teammates to come up with a different approach this time.
He is confident they have what it takes to get those three points. “They are a hard team to play against, but we will come with a different approach as we want to win.
“We lost the game against them, it wasn’t a good thing, and we want to win on the night,” Blom told the media in Durban.
With Amakhosi smarting from a 4-0 defeat against defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns last Saturday, many supporters have expressed doubts about their team.
However, the 22-year-old defender has called on fans to rally behind them this season, promising they will turn the corner starting tonight at Moses Mabhida.
“We need your support. We promise not to fail you and deliver the best, [and] get those three points. We call for your love, peace and support,” Blom added.
Amakhosi have already played two KZN teams, one game in Durban against Royal AM, which they lost 1-0 at Chatsworth Stadium in the season opener.
They faced Maritzburg United at FNB Stadium, and the Phefeni Glamour Boys outsmarted the Team of Choice.
On the other hand, the Natal Rich Boyz have played all their opening games in KZN and won against Lamontville Golden Arrows and Sekhukhune United.
They drew against Marumo Gallants and will be looking to send a strong message against Chiefs.
