AmaZulu’s Truter demands arrogance against hungry City

AmaZulu coach Brandon Truter wants his players to quickly move on from their derby loss against Lamontville Golden Arrows and show arrogance when they visit hungry Cape Town City in the MTN8 Cup on Saturday afternoon.

AmaZulu who have started the season very well and are seen as favourites to progress in the competition, but in City they meet a team with an appetite for glory especially after their run last season.

City will be buoyed by their midweek result in which they outplayed Kaizer Chiefs, beating them 2-0.

On the other hand, Usuthu are coming from their first league defeat mid-week against Abafana Besithende.

Nonetheless, Truter believes his players can display some arrogance and throw everything at the hosts. Interestingly, the Durban side – AmaZulu – has beaten their opponents in their league meeting recently.

“We have to re-focus quickly, we can’t be licking our wounds, we have to be arrogance, a once off game for us and a win is a must for us,” Truter told the media.

“The results always favour home teams, we’ve beaten them at home, and surely they would like to return a favour.

“We’re going to that game with them wanting to prove something, and hopefully, they will commit and expose themselves.

“But yes, they are favourites, but we will go there with arrogance and win the game,” the Cape Town-born coach said.

AmaZulu hold the hopes of KwaZulu-Natal to finally lift a trophy after 13 years of not having champions in the province.

Wafa Wafa, as the MTN8 is popularly known, takes four games for any team to achieve that with a trip to Cape Town this afternoon at Athlone Stadium [15:00].
