Royal AM co-coach Khabo Zondo says if the club can afford Mamelodi Sundowns striker Kermit Erasmus, he would be a welcome addition.
Erasmus looks set to leave before the end of the transfer window due to lack of game time and has already attracted interest from other DStv Premiership clubs.
Erasmus has been struggling for game time at Sundowns since he joined them from Cape Town City in October 2020.
His stay at Chloorkop has also been blighted by injuries, making it hard to nail down a regular place as Peter Shalulile continues to dominate as a first-choice starter.
Following the arrival of Marcelo Allende, who was handed his jersey number [11], and Ethiopia international Abubeker Nasir, the future of Erasmus looks to be elsewhere other than Sundowns.
Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena said the club would announce the 32-year-old’s future soon, with three clubs considering signing him.
There have been talks about where he may end up with Cape Town City understood to be keen on reuniting with him after he had a great spell with them, which led to Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United believed to be monitoring his situation.
FARPost has also gathered that Royal AM enquired about the former Bafana Bafana attacker. However, Zondo acted surprised when asked about it but admitted that a player of his calibre would be a good addition to the team.
“Well, I don’t know. It’s the first time I hear of it. Kermit is a very good player. If he is available and we can afford him, why not,” Zondo told the media.
If Thwihli Thwahla adds Erasmus, he will join the likes of Andre De Jong, Samir Nurkovic and Mxolisi Macuphu. The trio is currently leading their attack as they look to move quickly from their MTN8 exit to prepare for their next encounter.
