Mngqithi identifies what Daine Klate has done right at Chippa
Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi has identified the strengths of Chippa United under the new coach Daine Klate.
Sundowns come from a disappointing loss in the Tshwane derby against their arch-rivals SuperSport United in the DStv Premiership.
The Brazilians will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they face the Chilli Boys on Wednesday, and the former Golden Arrows mentor is wary of the Gqeberha-based side’s threat.
“The mood is good. Obviously, we still feel the pain. We are not a team that is accustomed to losing matches like that, but we have to move on and focus on the next assignment. The boys look refreshed and ready to give us the game that we expect from them.
“What Daine Klate has done with that Chippa team is encouraging. They’ve scored some critical goals on set pieces. [Abdi] Banda has been very important to them in that space.
“Daine [Klate], in general, has structured that team correctly. They are very offensive. They don’t only play on a break.
“Unfortunately, in the game against Golden Arrows, their first half let them down, and they had a wonderful second half.
“They improved tremendously in the second half, which shows the quality of coaching, so we are expecting a very tough match but a match we know very well that we are expected to win,” the 58-year tactician told the club media.
The Chloorkop-based outfit have had an inconsistent start to the new campaign, which saw them win three games, draw one and lose on two occasions in six games.
The defending champions travel to Nelson Mandela Bay stadium to take on Siviwe Mpengesi-owned club in the fight for maximum points.
