Why Riveiro believes Sekhukhune game will be ‘easy’

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has revealed why he believes their DStv Premiership clash against Sekhukhune United over the weekend will be “easy”.

The Buccaneers will welcome Babina Noko at Orlando Stadium on Saturday, 13 May 2023. The game will start at 15:00.

Riveiro says he’s not worried that they face Sekhukhune before the cup final match and that they will be able to pick up a thing or two from the league game for them to plan properly for the cup clash.

The Spanish mentor went on to state that a league game is different from a cup match, and their focus now is to consolidate their second spot.

Pirates and Sekhukhune will face each other again in this year’s Nedbank Cup final set to be played at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Tshwane.

The final will take on Saturday, 27 May 2023, with the kick-off scheduled for 18:00.

“It’s very easy because the next objective for us is to consolidate our position on the log. And make sure that that we finish second,” said Riveiro.

“So, I’m not thinking about the cup final and who is going to be our opponents in the cup final.

“However, it’s going to be attractive enough for what we are going to play for on Saturday.”

The Pirates mentor noted that league games are different from cup games. He reckons that it will be more about physical and mental recovery.

“We know that finals are different games compared with league fixtures. So, we trying to prepare for the game especially mentally because at this moment of the season, everything is clear for us,” h e added.

“It’s going to be more about physical and mental recovery. We talking it game by game and for me, the 27th is so far.”

Currently, Pirates are placed second on the log standings with 50 points, just two points ahead of second-placed SuperSport United.

Meanwhile, Sekhukhune sit seventh on the table with 36 points from 28 outings.
