How Royal AM ‘hijacked’ Sekhukhune signing of Shaune Mogaila

Sekhukhune United winger Shaune Mogaila has revealed how he was initially supposed to join the club before his move to Royal AM, but the move was hijacked.

The 29-year-old is now part of ‘Babina Noko’ after spending three seasons at Royal AM. He joined the KZN club in 2021 from TS Galaxy.

Mogaila says he could have been a Sekhukhune player long ago, had it not been that Royal intercepted the move.

DEJAVU AS SEKHUKHUNE UNITED FINALLY GOT THEIR PLAYER FROM ROYAL AM

“Actually it’s just more like a Deja Vu because when I went to Royal AM I was supposed to come to Sekhukhune,” Mogaila told FARPost.

“But football happened and I went to Royal AM. They bought me, so I had to go to Royal AM at that time. But now I got the opportunity to come to Sekhukhune and I have grabbed it with both hands.”

“Obviously, I was at Royal AM and things didn’t go well. So I had to leave in the second round, just after the transfer window period. I could not get the team at that time so I was out for six months and then I got an opportunity to sign for Sekhukhune.”

SHAUNE MOGAILA PLEASED TO BE PLAYING IN FRONT OF HIS FAMILY IN HIS HOME PROVINCE

The attacker added that he wants to use the opportunity of playing in his home province for the first time to inspire youngsters from his community at Ga-Mashashane.

“It feels really great because people from the community that I am from, it will be easier for them to come and watch the games. To also inspire those boys from home, they can come and see that it’s really possible for them as well to play in the professional set-up.

“Everyone is willing to come and support. For me it was one of those big decisions to say if I am playing in Polokwane. It’s very special because my mom stays around and it can be easier for her to come and watch me play most of the time.”
