AmaZulu react to Gabadinho’s promising start

AmaZulu have reacted to star striker Gabadinho Mhango’s promising start to his career with Usuthu after he scored in back-to-back games.

Usuthu spokesperson Phumlani Dube spoke about the former Orlando Pirates star after he scored in the team’s 2-1 win over Cape Town City at Moses Mabhida Stadium to build on his midweek scoring show.

“He is a great addition to our squad. He is very happy to be part of AmaZulu and we are as equally happy to have him as part of the club. We value his contribution.

“We look forward to seeing more from him. There was a lot of excitement when the announcement was made that he would join the squad and you would have seen in the last few games that he has made his mark at AmaZulu. We hope this will continue,” Dube tells FARPost.

The former BidVest Wits forward also found the back on the net in a midweek clash as AmaZulu rallied from behind to beat SuperSport United 2-1.

The Malawian has since described his career as a movie after taking life to AmaZulu like a duck to water.

“My life is a movie…,” the 29-year-old tweeted after Saturday’s game.

Gabadinho’s agent Mike Makaab has since congratulated his client to the blistering start to his career at AmaZulu and urged him to keep up the momentum.

“Proud of you @gabadinhoFlames…keep working hard,” Makaab tweeted.

In a follow up interview with FARPost, Makaab said Gabadinho had found his feet at AmaZulu and he was enjoying his game.

Reacting to the goal for Mhango, a fan called Bongani Chuma tweeted: “Gabadinho Mhango, you beauty. Now I see why that other coach said PSL is bigger than AFCON (where you excelled).”

The ex-Bloemfontein Celtic man scored in the 52nd minute after Augustine Kwem’s opener had put Usuthu on the path to victory.

Lindani Shange eventually replaced the Malawian in the 84th minute with the three points safe in the bag for AmaZulu who sit second on the log table going into Sunday’s other matches.

Mhango signed for AmaZulu after being discarded by the then Pirates co-coaches Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids despite his obvious impressive scoring form with the Flames at the delayed 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon earlier this year, when he scored three goals in three games.
