Gabonese frontman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) tournament set to kick off in Cameroon on Sunday, 9 January.
The 32-year-old will miss out on his country’s opening game against Comoros on Tuesday, 10 January.
Things seem to be going from bad to worse as Aubameyang recently lost his Arsenal captaincy due to a disciplinary breach.
Meanwhile, midfielder Mario Lemina and assistant coach Yala Anicet have also tested positive for the deadly virus.
“They underwent a PCR test and are isolating in their hotel,” Gabon coach Patrice Neveu told AFP.
