Axed Chiefs veteran backs Zwane to succeed at Naturena

AN outgoing Kaizer Chiefs defender believes newly appointed head coach Arthur Zwane is the right man for the top job at the club.

Daniel Cardoso, who is part of eight senior players released by Chiefs on Wednesday, has tipped Zwane to transform the club into a title-challenging side, ending an eight-year trophy drought.

“Arthur has been in the background for quite some time. He has been around and knows exactly what we’ve been doing and how we been doing it. He’s been learning from other coaches, which is a good thing. He’s a good coach with a lot of ambition,” said Cardoso.

“I do wish him the best success in the world. I hope he can turn around things at Naturena because it is really needed.”

After seven years at the club, he admitted it has been a bad drought for quite some time, and there is a need for players to start stepping up and winning trophies.

Amakhosi announced eight exits on Wednesday with Samir Nurkovic, Lazarous Kambole, Lebohang Manyama, Daniel Akpeyi, Kearyn Baccus, Anthony Akumu Agay and Leonardo Castro. The club said more exits were likely to follow.

They have already announced the signing of Ashley Du Preez and Zitha Kwinika from Stellenbosch FC.
