Big three avoid each other in Nedbank Cup Last 32

The big guns avoided each other in Wednesday’s Nedbank Cup Last 32 draw conducted at Sandton in Johannesburg.

The 32 teams will fight for the trophy, R7 million prize money and a spot in the Caf Confederations Cup.

Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs managed to avoid each other as Bucs will lock horns against AmaZulu in what promises to be an entertaining game with Amakhosi set to tackle TS Galaxy in a repeat of the 2018 final at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Chiefs, who lost against Galaxy in the 2018 final, remain the most successful club in the tournament’s history with 13 triumphs, but they haven’t lifted the trophy since 2013 and are still in search of their first trophy in seven years.

The Brazilians will face GladAfrica Championship outfit Richards Bay.

Defending champions Marumo Gallants, formerly known as Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila, will host Santos, while last year’s finalists Chippa United will play against second-tier side University of Pretoria.
