BREAKING NEWS: Andile Jali’s new club revealed

Andile Jali’s new club has been confirmed following his exit from Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season. 

The news puts an end to months of speculation over the future of the talented midfielder. 

Before the announcement, the 33-year-old had been linked to several clubs, including Swallows FC, Orlando Pirates and Stellenbosch FC.

Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca were also said to be tracking the gritty defensive midfielder.

ANDILE JALI’S NEW CLUB

Moroka Swallows FC have since confirmed Andile Jali’s signing, bringing the experienced midfielder to Soweto on a two-year deal.

Jali was a free agent after his contract with Mamelodi Sundowns expired at the end of last season. However, Swallows have finally confirmed the deal.

Jali is a hugely experienced player, having won numerous trophies in his career, including six DStv Premiership titles, one Nedbank Cup, and three MTN8 Cups.

The Birds chairman David Mogashoa confirmed live on Gagasi FM, alongside Jali and his agent, Mike Makaab, on Simtho Dladla’s show. 

“It’s a two-year contract, I think we will go longer than that,” Mogashoa confirmed, expressing excitement over the signing. 

JALI REUNITES WITH STEVE KOMPHELA

Jali reunites with Steve Komphela, who recently joined Swallows from Sundowns. He revealed the major reason for choosing Swallows. The former Pirates midfielder said he didn’t want to leave Johannesburg. 

“I said to Mike, I don’t wanna leave Joburg, so it’s better I stay in Joburg,” said Jali as he confirmed his move.

The former Bafana Bafana international brings a lot of experience to the squad, having represented the country at major tournaments.

Jali’s arrival is a significant coup for the Soweto side, and it will be interesting to see how he fares in the 2023/24 season. He is a proven winner, and he will be hoping to help them challenge for silverware.

His arrival will add much quality to Swallows’ midfield. He is a strong, physical player who is good on the ball.
