Da Gama tips Sekhukhune for bright future

Sekhukhune United co-coach Owen Da Gama, who recently joined the club, has praised his boys, saying he sees a bright future.

Da Gama was speaking after Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs, which he attributed to a mistake.
Ramahlwe Mphahlele’s solitary goal proved to be the difference as the match ended 1-0 in favour of Chiefs.

“The goal was just a mistake. Mistakes happen. It was not like a clear-cut goal where defenders are beaten and score a brilliant goal. It was a clear mistake, and this happens,” Da Gama said.

“I’m so proud of the boys, I’m so proud of the supporters, they kept us going, the more the supporters sang, the more energy guys got.”

He said Babina Noko, who are in their first season in the topflight, played like a team that had been in the topflight for a decade.

“I was impressed by the way we came the second half. We played like a team that’s been there for 10 years, so I see a very bright future. But we fought, very hard they gave it their all.” The loss saw them drop to 11th on the log table with one game left.
