DAY 1: Sasol National Championships wrap

Following the postponement of the 2021 Edition of the Sasol League National Championships due to the Omicron variant last year, the tournament officially commenced today at the King Zwelithini Stadium.

The competition was initially set for December 2021 but was postponed to this year after cases of Omicron variant surged across the country.

However, the nine Provincial winners of the Sasol League came back highly motivated, eyeing for a place in the final where the top two teams will be promoted to the Hollywoodbets Super League.

In the first game of the day, Ixias FC played out to a 1-all draw with Copperbelt Ladies FC in a well-contested match which would have gone either way.

The second fixture produced yet another 1-all draw, as we witnessed Tswelelang De’Scorpion from the North West take on Mpumalanga’s TS Galaxy Ladies.

The last match of Day 1, saw Eastern Capes’ City Lads FC going head-to-head with Royal Wizards of the Northern Cape in a mouthwatering encounter that produced 15 goals. The showdown ended with a 12-3 scoreline in favour of City Lads.

The journey for a promotion to the Super League continues tomorrow with more fascinating fixtures.
