Ellis impressed by Banyana’s preps

Banyana mentor Desiree Ellis says the team has settled well in Morocco and preparations for their opener against Nigeria in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations are perfectly going according to plan.

The national team landed safely in Morocco on Wednesday. On Friday, they held their second training session ahead of the much anticipated women’s continental tournament, leaving the coach to be impressed with the preparations.

“We were welcomed warmly when we arrived at the airport. We are coping very well and there has been so much enthusiasm and drive at our training session,’’ Ellis told SAFA media.

“The closer we get to our opening game the more we get into more detail. We show the players footage and try to break it down.”

“We are still working on a lot of things and we have the footage for the players to see who they are up against and work on different areas on the field.”

Ellis’ charges will kick off their campaign against arch rivals, Nigeria on 4 July at the Moulay Hassan FUS, in the repeat of 2018 final.
