Swallows held by Chippa at home

Neither Swallows nor Chippa United have been able to break through in an end-to-end DStv Premiership clash at Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

One team wanted to spoil; the other wanted to play. While Chippa were determined to make the contest as dull as possible, Dylan Kerr gave the Dube Birds freedom to express themselves.

However, the game opened up as the first half began to draw to a close, making the game good viewing for spectators in the stands.

The Chilli Boys finally began to move through the gears in the final minutes of the first period, but despite heavy pressure from the home side the game remained goalless at the whistle.

In the second stanza, Swallows were keen to test the Chippa defenders in the opening moments of the half, but luck was never on their side.

The visitors struggled to make many inroads and to move the ball around with any type of conviction as the second half wore on.

The final whistle blew with nothing to separates both sides.

Swallows’ inability to finish any of their countless chances was near-comedic and ultimately costly.

The result leaves Maswaiswai in 15th place with 25 points, equal on points with Baroka who are languishing on the basement of the log.

Meanwhile, in another fixture, Cape Town City settled for a 0-0 draw against AmaZulu at DHL Stadium.
