I will take the critics – Partey

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Party has responded to the Gunners’ red card and Ghana exit from the 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).

This comes after the 28-year-old was sent off in their 2-0 aggregate defeat by Liverpool in their EFL Cup semi-final clash on Thursday.

Partey reckons that he will work hard to change his fortunes after he got knocked out of two cup tournaments for his club and country in a space of three days.

The player just returned back to his club in London following the Black Stars’ elimination from the Afcon competition after a 3-2 defeat in the group stage to debutants, Comoros.

“I am not happy with all that happened yesterday and at Afcon,” said Partey.

“But I understand only with hard work things will change so I will continue to work hard to change this.

“I am responsible for anything that happened and will take all the critics.

“I should be more intelligent not to get into a challenge when already booked. But this is my personality, I like to fight for every ball.

“I love this club and I love my country even though sometimes things don’t happen how I wanted. I will continue to work harder and make things right. I will continue to give my all for the team when I am on the field of play because this is my life and this is what I choose to do.”
