Cameroon head coach Antonio Conceiçao said his troops could only improve after the Indomitable Lions became the first side to book a place in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) Round of 16.
The host nation hammered Ethiopia 4-1 at Olembe Stadium in Yaoundé on Thursday, with captain Vincent Aboubakar and Toko Ekambi each netting a brace after Dawa Dukele gave Ethiopia the lead.
Conceiçao’s men are top of Group A with six points after two matches. “We played a better second half with more rigour and concentration to seal the score and put up three more points,” said the Cameroon coach.
“We played well offensively with several goalscoring chances in addition to the four goals scored. We didn’t come close with positioning errors, but this will be corrected in our next matches to play better.
“Our objective is to win our matches and go as far as possible in the tournament.”
Meanwhile, in the other game of the day, Burkina Faso striker Boureima Bande scored the only goal of the match to help the Stallions beat Cape Verde in Group A.
