Ahmed insists Nigeria don’t fear Salah

Nigeria captain Ahmed Musa has vowed they are not intimidated by Egypt’s talisman Mohammed Salah ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations clash on Tuesday.

Musa has tipped Villarreal forward Samuel Chukwueze to shine at the 2022 Afcon, describing him as ‘very dangerous.’

Although Salah has been in scintillating form for Liverpool, banging in 16 goals in 20 outings, Musa said he was the least of their worries.

“Everyone is talking about Salah, but if you look at our team, we have lots of players they will be worried about. So, we don’t have to think about Salah; they’ve to think about our players.

“They talk about Salah, but we have players like Samuel Chukwueze and others on the wings who are very dangerous – so that’s football,” he said.

He believes the fact that the Super Eagles squad has been together for a while will count for something at the continental showpiece in Cameroon.

“I think we’re ready because we have played lots of matches together, and as I said, we are 100 per cent ready,” he said.

Musa, who plays his club football in Turkey for Fatih Karagümrük, made it clear they were going to Cameroon to challenge for honours.

“We aren’t going to Cameroon to see the beauty of the country but to win. When we sealed the qualification, we said we weren’t just going to the AFCON. We’re going to come back with the trophy.”
