Ex-Platinum Stars striker takes legal action against Ismaily

Namibian striker Benson Shilongo is taking legal action against his former club Ismaily over unpaid wages.

Shilongo parted ways with the Egyptian Premier League side recently due to non-payment of what is due to him.

“I left the club. I have terminated my contract, and I will get my dues owed to me through the court,” said Shilongo as quoted by the Namibian.

When asked if he will be remaining in Egypt, he said: “I will be joining a new team in due course.”

According to reports in Egypt Shilongo, went AWOL- absent without leave, and Ismaily were clueless regarding his whereabouts. However, it was revealed that the 29-year-old is owed money from the entire 2021/22 season as per his contract.

Shilongo, now clubless, had a stint at the now-defunct Platinum Stars before joining Ismaily in January 2019. He netted 18 goals and provided 10 assists in 78 games in Egypt.

Former Orlando Pirates striker Justin Shonga, who’s now at Sekhukhune United, left Ismaily for the same reason.
