Musona hails Zim government for support

Zimbabwe skipper Knowledge Musona has expressed his gratitude for the government’s support in paying the team’s allowances on time.

The Warriors are already in Cameroon for the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) set to run from 9 January to 6 February 2022.

Norman Mapeza’s side commenced with their training on New Year’s Eve in Yaounde, where they are based for the tournament.

Zimbabwe are drawn in Group B alongside Guinea, Malawi and Senegal, who they will face in their opening game of the competition on Monday, 10 January.

“I would like to thank the Sports and Recreation Commission [government] for their support in paying players’ allowances on time and the camping of the team in Cameroon since 30 December 2021,” said Musona.

“This means a lot to us as players and we really appreciate it.

“As players, we are extremely grateful because it shows us how deeply our government cares about us and football.”

The 31-year-old frontman went on to say that the support will motivate them to do well and fight for the country as they always do.

“The team can now fully focus on preparing well for the tournament without any distractions,” he added.

“We are extremely grateful”.
