Kerr reveals two things Swallows need to avoid relegation

Dylan Kerr says he is trying to ensure the players remain positive amid Swallows’ battle for survival and has explained what they need to do to avoid the axe.

The Swallows coach will be eager to walk away with the three points in Soweto on Sunday afternoon (15:00) against Baroka at Dobsonville Stadium.

“I have been trying to keep the guys positive and happy,” said Kerr, ahead of the relegation clash against his former club.

“The feedback I have given them [players] over the last 13 games is why are we not winning with the style of football we are playing? Why are we not beating teams?.

The Dube Birds are 15th on the DStv Premiership with 20 points, two ahead of basement dwellers Baroka. Kerr’s men are also two points away from safely.

“We play football to score goals, but we are not scoring, and I told the players that there are two things we need to do,” added Kerr.

“We need to have confidence and luck. And the only way you can get luck is if you are confident to try and score goals. In training, the boys have been doing that but games are different from training.

There is a lot of pressure on both teams [Swallows and Baroka] at the weekend, and if we don’t make it happen for us, we will find ourselves struggling for the next four games.

“My attitude has been fantastic towards them [players], to keep them believing and hopefully we can win the game. I don’t want my players to let themselves and the supporters down.”
