Kopano Sekgobela in Easter scouting drive

Former Polokwane City player Kopano ‘Skopa’ Sekgobela, whose career was cut short after an accident left him paralysed, will spend Easter on the football grounds of Ga-Mathabatha, near Polokwane, searching for football gems.

Sekgobela is involved in the Tshiamo Agency Cup, which will be held in Polokwane, and will draw 24 teams. The tournament will run between Friday and Sunday.

Sekgobela said the main objective was to identify players and look for opportunities for those deserving.

“This tournament aims to assist talented unknown players in getting exposure. We scout players and help them find teams to fulfil their dream of playing football,” Sekgobela told FARPost.

“There is no age restriction to this tournament; it’s open to anyone who can play football. You may be 28 years old and still be good; we can help get you a team.”

Sekgobela, who also coaches Dinoko FC, believes there is so much talent in his area, which needs guidance and mentorship. Evidence Makgopa, the Baroka FC forward, hails from the same village.
