Banyana players dominate nominees for CAF 2022 women’s awards

CAF has released the second list of nominees for its 2022 awards set to take place on 21 July 2022 in Rabat, Morocco ahead of the final of Africa’s flagship women’s tournament on 4 July.

The revealed nominees are mainly for the Women’s categories namely Player of the Year, Interclub Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year, and Club of the Year.

Banyana Banyana lead the list of nominees for the 2022 Player of the Year award with six players, the most by a country.

Meanwhile, the Hollywoodbets Super League is well represented in the list besides the recognition given to Andile Dlamini and Bambanani Mbane, Andisiwe Mgcoyi and Zanele Nhlapho who ply their trade in the league, their club Mamelodi Sundowns is one of the nominees for the Club of the Year (women) award.

The winners of each category will be decided by a voting panel made up of the CAF Technical Committee, media professionals, head coaches and Captains of Member Associations and clubs involved in the group stage of the Interclub competitions.
