City Motors appoint former Chiefs defender as new coach

Limpopo ABC Motsepe League outfit Ngwaabe City Motors have enlisted the services of former Kaizer Chiefs defender Rodney Thobejane as the club’s new head coach.

Thobejane replaces coach Ernest Mamanyoha who tendered his resignation last week “citing personal reasons.”

“We are pleased to announce that Rodney Thobejane has been appointed as our new head coach,” read City Motors’ statement.

Meanwhile, all the players reported to training on Monday, 17 January to start with the league’s second round preparations.

‘Danger’, as he’s popularly known within football cycles, is no stranger to the South African football third-tier, having coached Groblersdaal-based side Ditlou FC.

On an interesting note, Thobejane’s first assignment will be against his former club Ditlou in a league match away from home on Friday, 28 January.

The mouthwatering showpiece will take place at Groblersdaal Rugby Stadium at 15:00 in the afternoon.
