COSAFA announce change on squad numbers for 2022 edition

COSAFA Executive Committee and Organising Committee has revealed that the 2022 edition will have increased number of squad players.

In the previous competitions, squads had been limited to 20 players. The decision to increase with three more players will boost teams to have more squad depth as now as they may now also use five substitutes during matches.

More so, the additional of three players will be beneficial for teams that will contest from the group stages to the final, which will see them playing up to six games in less than two weeks. This will also help the coaches in terms of rotating their squads.

Some of the participating teams like Malawi and Zambia have already announced their 30-member preliminary squads, the final 23-member squad must be submitted to COSAFA by 27 June.

The much-anticipated Hollywoodbets COSAFA Cup will run from 5-17 July in Durban.
