Europe-linked Tuks star tipped for success

After being strongly linked with a move away from University of Pretoria, head coach Tlisane Motaung has tipped Keegan Allan for European success should the opportunity arise.

Allan, who was instrumental for the students in the GladAfrica Championship last season, made 22 appearances in all competitions and chipped in with four goals from his defensive position as the team marginally missed out on automatic promotion to the top flight as Richards Bay United was crowned second division winners.

“Obviously, I haven’t heard anything regarding his move to Europe, but Allan is a very strong player, explosive, strong aerially, and he’s a player with a good mental strength, so I don’t see a reason why he wouldn’t make it in any of the top leagues in Europe,” said the 38-year-old tactician.

The 21-year-old in-demand defender is on the radar of two Serie A outfits, Hellas Verona and Spezia Calcio, as previously reported by FARPost.

Meanwhile, Motaung, a former Tuks player, has lamented transfer movements at the club as the team looks to intensify their bid for automatic promotion to the elite league next season.

“It’s always expected for any team at the end of the season to have movements in the club, so we are no exception. Already we know that Indiviwe [Mdabuka] has joined Richards Bay, and we have a few players who were on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns. So, there will be movements in the team; for now, we’ll wait for the team to make an official announcement about those developments,” added Motaung.
