Four SuperSport stars who crossed the floor to Sundowns and how they fared

Mamelodi Sundowns continued to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2022/23 season, which starts in a fortnight, by signing a duo from their rivals SuperSport United. The reigning champions acquired the services of Sipho Mbule and Bafana Bafana skipper Ronwen Williams.

FARPost looks at ex-Matsatsantsa stars who made a switch to Sundowns in recent seasons and how they have fared at their new home.

Aubrey Modiba

The 27-year-old joined Masandawana ahead of the 2019/2020 DStv Premiership campaign. The Limpopo-born midfield maestro committed himself to the club by signing a lengthy five-year contract. ‘Postman’ has had a great stay with Sundowns and enjoyed some decent game time last season. He has won four trophies so far and has found the back of the net four times in all competitions.

Teboho Mokoena

The talented midfield engine linked with the treble-winning champions in the middle of the 2021/22 season. The 25-year-old, who penned a three-and-a-half-year deal, had an excellent debut season with Bafana Ba Style winning three trophies. Mokoena has so far netted one goal and provided two assists in eight league appearances.

Grant Kekana

The University of Pretoria graduate joined Kabo Yellow as a free agent during the off-season of 2021/22. The talented centre-back, who can also play as a right-back, sealed a two-and-a-half-year deal. Like Mokoena, the 29-year-old has won three trophies since he arrived from the crosstown rivals.

Jeremy Brockie

The New Zealand international switched to the Chloorkop-based outfit in January 2018, signing a long-term five-year contract. The move proved a fiasco as the striker netted only one goal in the two seasons he spent at the club. In search of more game time and form, he was loaned out to Maritzburg United in the 2019/20 season.
