Franklin Cale resurfaces at WC ABC Motsepe side

Veteran winger Franklin Cale has resurfaced at the Western Cape ABC Motsepe League outfit, Clarewood JPM FC.

The former Ajax Cape Town player was on the scoresheet for his new side when they strolled past Gansbaai City 6-1 in a league match over the weekend.

The 38-year-old made headlines when he joined Mamelodi Sundowns from Ajax in December 2009 on a reported fee of R5.5m, which effectively made him one of the most expensive players in the history of South African football top-flight.

The Ocean View-born legend had his fair share of play, having represented the likes of Cape Town Spurs, SuperSport United, Highlands Park and Ubuntu Cape Town.

Even though his position [left-winger] primarily requires speed, stamina, dribbling and crossing abilities, Cale has proven that he’s still has a lot to offer despite his age and determined to help the club to challenge for promotion to the GladAfrica Championship.

Given his delightful performance and an important goal against Gansbaai this past weekend, it won’t be a surprise to see him break into the limelight as the South African football third-tier reaches fever pitch.
