Hlompho Kekana hangs up his boots

Ex-Bafana Bafana midfielder Hlompho Kekana has called time on his illustrious career, saying he wants to focus on his job as an analyst.

Revered as the most successful Mamelodi Sundowns captain, he has been clubless since leaving the DStv Premiership champions last season.

Although several clubs, including Baroka, were keen on his signature after his departure from the Brazilians, he indicated he wanted to take a back seat and reflect.

The 37-year-old has since announced that he will now focus on his next chapter.

During his decade-long stint at Sundowns, he won the CAF Champions League in 2016 under Pitso Mosimane. Undoubtedly, he is one of the most successful captains at the Tshwane giants and in the league.

His career started at Black Leopards before he made a move to SuperSport. After being deemed surplus to requirements, he packed his bags and moved to Bloemfontein Celtic.

‘Keke’, as Mosimane often referred to him, then joined Sundowns, where he won several trophies, making him one of the most successful football on the domestic scene.
