I hate being asked when I will retire – Maluleke

Midfielder Jabulani Maluleke insists he is still going strong and looking forward to contributing more at Venda Football Academy (VFA).

Maluleke who turns 40 next month has joined the GladAfrica Championship club on a six-month loan from Sekhukhune United.

He joins other experienced players such as Jabulani Shongwe, Ranga Chivaviro, Sibusiso Khumalo, Thembi Nevhulamba, Msekeli Mvalo and Mthokozisi Nene who are part of the ambitious side.

Speaking to FARPost from the club’s training ground in Louis Trichardt, Maluleke says football is the only thing he thinks about when he wakes up in the morning.

“I don’t like the question of being asked when will I retire,” said Maluleke.

“I am still in love with (playing) football, I have passion for it. So, I wake up every day thinking about going to training, walking up going to play what I love.

“I am still alive and kicking and my legs can still carry me. My role is to guide these youngsters and have an input to where they left off in December so I wish we can have better performances in the remaining matches of the season,” he said.

“I am still new at the club and still need to learn the culture of the team. How we play and the philosophy of the coach. I have known him before because he coached me back at Sekhukhune so I just have to adapt and work on my fitness, because I was not 100% fit when I came here.”

Malukele believes there is a huge potential for the club to find themselves participating in the DStv Premiership next season.

“Highly possible. All we need is just commitment and dedication and work together since there are senior players and youngsters. We have to guide each other and learn more from each other.” He added.
