Major changes looming at Swallows

Despite telling FARPost that he had been assured of keeping his job after saving Swallows from relegation, Dylan Kerr’s return to The Birds’ nest looks more unlikely than ever.

Swallows survived the chop after winning the promotion/relegation playoffs and are reportedly searching for a new coach.

It was the fourth club that the Maltese-born mentor helped survive the chop since he arrived in the country. The other clubs are Black Leopards, Baroka and Marumo Gallants.

Speaking to FARPost during the recently-held ABC Motsepe League national playoffs, the 55-year-old said he wanted to help the club challenge for titles and not fight for survival.

“The Chairman spoke to me last week and said, ‘look, forget all the rumours about Gavin Hunt, Ernst Middendorp and Cavin Johnson [coming to Swallows]. You are going to be the coach here next season’,” he said.

“I love it at Swallows. I mean, it’s a good set-up. He’s got ambitions, he has dreams, but those ambitions and dreams we all have to be honest and not make the mistakes that we have been making these past six months when I joined the club.

“Let’s go forward and learn from our mistakes. Every football club has flaws; it does things you are not supposed to do. But that’s going to stay in-house; it’s not something for the public,” continued Kerr.

“But we all make mistakes regarding team selections and substitutions; we get them right, sometimes get them wrong. Picking the winning team, so we learn from it and grow from it.”

FARPost can now reveal that one of the men Kerr was told to forget about is in line to replace him.
