Mama Joy set for joyful ride to Qatar for World Cup draw

Mama Joy Chauke’s passion for football earned her an invite to attend the Qatar 2022 Fifa World Cup draw in Doha on 1 April 2022.

The former Orlando Pirates fan, now at Royal AM, says she got the invite to the global showpiece draw exclusively due to her loyalty to South Africa’s national teams and her ability to engage and excite football fans worldwide.

‘’We are offering you a once-in-a-lifetime experience to visit Qatar and attend the draw,’’ reads the invite from the 2022 World Cup organisers.

Mama Joy, who is also the South African National Supporters (SANASU) Secretary-General, will leave the country on 28 March and return on 3 April.

‘’This is massive because I will not only be representing my organisation SANASU but will be doing this for my Association (Safa), South Africa and Cosafa,’’ she said.

‘’I will be among a few global faces of soccer fans at the draw. Provisionally, they have promised that a few more fans from South Africa that include SANASU President Saddam Maake will make the trip during the World Cup tournament, and we intend to leave a lasting impression there.”

‘’I would want to take this opportunity to thank Safa, especially President Danny Jordaan, for embracing us supporters as critical stakeholders of the game.”
