Former Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen has agreed to join Manchester United.
The Danish midfielder has reportedly accepted United’s proposal of a three-year deal.
The process of drafting contracts has now started and if that is finalised, the 30-year-old would need to come through medical tests.
This is normal for all recruits and no problems are anticipated on that front, but given Eriksen’s history it is a significant hurdle that needs to be navigated.
The Denmark international collapsed on the pitch at Euro 2020 after suffering a cardiac arrest.
He was fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator — which meant he was unable to resume his career with then-club Inter Milan due to Serie A rules.
The Italian club agreed to terminate his deal before he joined Brentford. He joined the club for the second half of last season and played 11 times in the Premier League, scoring once.
Eriksen previously represented Tottenham Hotspur between 2013 and 2020. He played 226 times in the Premier League and scored 51 goals for the north London side. He began his senior career at Ajax.
