BREAKING NEWS: Maritzburg find replacement for Clayton Daniels

John Maduka is building his team after recently taking over as head coach at Maritzburg United.

His shock move came on the back of a third-place finish with Royal AM after transforming the KZN side into a well-oiled machine.

The Malawian has started moulding his charges after the club axed eight players, including veteran defender Clayton Daniels.

The club has signed a replacement for Daniels, who has since joined his former club Cape Town Spurs, in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

The Pietermaritzburg side has snapped up Baroka captain Bonginkosi Makume on what is thought to be a three-year deal.

The 26-year-old was the subject of interest from clubs, including Sekhukhune United, but it seems he will play his football at the Team of Choice next season.

Bakgaga chairman Khurishi Mphahlele is on record saying the player is still in their plans as they go to the second tier after being relegated.

However, he said they would not stand in the player’s way should there be a commitment to meet their terms from an interested club.

He joined Baroka in July 2018 and made 88 appearances for the Limpopo side, scoring three times.
