Modiba hails FARPost Cup initiative

Mamelodi Sundowns star Aubrey Modiba has hailed the FARPost Cup initiative, saying he believes several players may have caught the eyes of scouts.

Several scouts, former players and current players were in attendance at the tournament held in the Capricorn Region under Blouberg Municipality on Saturday.

SAFA presidential aspirant Rea Ledwaba, Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo and his Orlando Pirates counterpart, Edward Motale, defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Sundowns scout Esrom Nyandoro, Black Leopards coach Joel Masutha, Baroka goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane and his coach Vincent Kobola were all in attendance.

Molemolle FC beat Polokwane LFA 4-3 on penalties to lift the inaugural FARPost Cup at the Mchana Grounds.

“It’s a great initiative; I was so happy with everyone enjoying it here. You see the t-shirts written Unleashing Raw Talent, which is something needed here back home. We don’t get big scouts visiting these areas,” Modiba told FARPost.

He hopes the company can take the same initiative to other areas. “I’m sure the players will be grateful; we have current and former agents; they have seen the talent. We didn’t have these kinds of tournaments back home where we had scouts or companies coming. With initiatives such as this.”

A team was selected amongst the players from the teams who participated, who will form one team that will represent the Capricorn region in regional tournaments.

“They must keep their feet on the ground, believe in God, believe in their talent and craft – not just with football – but whatever skills they have, they must pursue them,” the Downs star advised.
