Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League outfit Mlambo Royal Cubs has confirmed the appointment of Sunnyboy Mtakwenda as the club’s new head coach.
The Tembisa-born mentor joins Mlambo Royal Cubs part ways with head coach, having previously coached Tjakastand Junior Sheppard, Mbombela United, Witbank City Lads and Witbank Sheppard.
Mtakwenda will work alongside Sam Dale as his assistant coach in the upcoming season.
The side also announced Bheki Jele as the club’s goalkeeper coach.
Mlambo finished fourth in Stream A of the provincial ABC League with 24 points, eight points behind stream winners Secunda M Stars last campaign.
The club is ready to hit the ground running as they will be playing their pre-season friendlies against rivals Sivutsa Stars, Eswatini Premier League champions Royal Leopards and Dream 7, who are Eswatini Premier League debutants.
Given Mtakwenda’s extensive experience of the beautiful which will add value to Mlambo, he will be expected to help the side to challenge for promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
