Nange blow for Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs have suffered a massive blow in their pursuit of a strong finish in the league following the suspension ahead of their visit to Sekhukhune United on Saturday in the DStv Premiership.

Nange was on target last week as Amakhosi dug deep to get the point against already crowned PSL champions Mamelodi Sundowns. His volley from the edge of the box ensured they played a 1-1 draw with the Brazilians. They will be without midfield maestro Phathutshedzo Nange.

The 30-year-old has been one of the key players for Amakhosi this season, making 23 appearances and scoring two goals. His suspension, which was confirmed by the PSL, comes after picking up a fourth yellow card last Sunday.

In his absence, interim coach Arthur Zwane will look to the likes of Kearyn Baccus and Cole Alexandra in that midfield position. Meanwhile, Amakhosi defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele warned his teammates not to take Sekhukhune lightly despite being winless in five matches.

He believes they have good players like Willard Katsande, their former player, who can make a huge difference.“Obviously, they have the likes of Katsande, who knows the club very well; he will probably give them the inside information,” said Mphahlele.

“They have a very experienced team, and they are a tough team. They play at a very high pace, we have to be strong physically, and we have to be prepared to run more than them. We know that we will be playing away, and they will be looking to put us under pressure.”
