Nazeer Allie signs for new club

Veteran defender Nazeer Allie has completed a move to a new club ahead of a new season.

Allie parted ways with Maritzburg United at the end of last season as the team embarked on a journey to build a youthful squad.

The 37-year-old defender joins Cape Town Spurs ahead of the Motsepe Foundation Championship season as the team looks to intensify their push for promotion to the DStv Premiership.

The Cape Town-born star is a well-travelled defender, having begun his professional career with Ajax Cape Town in 2005 before moving to Bidvest Wits in 2015.

The former Bafana Bafana international made a switch to Maritzburg United in 2018 after the students sold their top-flight status to Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila on the bring of their centenary celebration.

The right-back made 19 appearances in the league for the Harry Gwala-based side as he helped the team to survive relegation.

Nazeer Allie joins Clayton Daniels at The Urban Warriors. The duo formed a defensive partnership at the Team of Choice before being released by the club.

The pair will be looking to help the Cape Town-based side with their wealth of experience as the team aim for automatic promotion to the elite league.

Shaun Bartlett’s side has already beefed up their squad with the promotion of Fiaz Abrahams from the young academy.

Also joining them is the talented forward Boitumelo Radiopane on a season-long loan from Orlando Pirates.

Leo Thethani, Sithembiso Ngobe, Alucius Wagaba, Maurice Finck, Therlo Moosa, Jayden Petersen and Michael Morton will be expected to play a pivotal role in passing down experience to the youngsters.
