Oshoala pens new Barcelona Femení contract

Super Falcons striker and four-time African Women’s Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala has signed a new contract extension with Barcelona Femeni that will see her remain at the club until 2024.

Oshoala’s contract at Barca was set to expire at the end of the current campaign, but he has put pen to paper for a further two seasons in the club’s president Joan Laporta’s office at Camp Nou on Thursday.

The 27-year-old Nigerian joined Barca back in 2019 and has netted an impressive 80 goals in 101 competitive games.

Oshoala, who is the club’s sixth-highest goalscorer, is currently the leading goalscorer in the Primera Iberdrola League with 16 goals in 19 games.

She is also the only African to win the Uefa Women’s Champions League and was recently feted as the Best African Female Footballer of the decade.

“I am very happy to continue with the world’s best team. Not just for the football, but because off the pitch they are also best at looking after players and helping them to continue improving,” said Oshoala.

“I am a forward and I want to carry on scoring goals. The aim is continue developing and to be happy”.
