Following the conclusion of the KwaZulu-Natal ABC Motsepe League this past weekend, Summerfield Dynamos will go head-to-head with GWP Friends FC in the Provincial Inter Stream Playoffs.
Summerfield were declared Stream A winners with 42 points from 18 outings, whereas GWP won Stream B with 43 points from the very same number of games played by their counterparts.
The playoffs will be played in two-legged fixtures, with the winners qualifying for the South African football third-tier National playoffs with the hope of gaining promotion to the GladAfrica Championship.
The first leg will be played on Saturday, 26 February, while the return leg will take place the following weekend 5 March 2022.
Both teams’ players have reacted to this weekend’s playoffs clash at Chatsworth Stadium with the kick-off set for 15:00 in the afternoon.
In an interview with Inqaku Live Games, GWP player Mfundo ‘Chicco’ Mdluli said: “We need a clean win on Saturday against Summerfield Dynamos and We will be playing away from home but we need to do everything in order for us to win this game.”
“We will be playing against a strong team but they don’t have that attacking formation.
“Saturday’s game is like the biggest war but we will work hard to make GWP Friends fans happy. We have everything to win this game.”
Meanwhile, former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Sandile Zuke, who now plays for Summerfield added: “Preparations of this weekend’s clash against GWP Friends are going well. We started the gym yesterday.
“We have great vibes and a positive feeling because we know that we will win both legs and be crowned as KZN ABC Motsepe League Champions and represent our Province very well in the National playoffs.”
