Ramabula remembered as a dedicated footballer at memorial service

A memorial service in honour of football player Lesiba Ramabula was held in Seshego, Zone 1, in Limpopo on Friday afternoon.

Ramabula (21) was struck and killed by lightning on Tuesday while returning from training with his club Turfloop 95 FC.

He was confirmed dead upon his arrival at the hospital.

MEC for Social Development in Limpopo Nkakareng Rakgoale was amongst the dignitaries who attended the memorial service.

Speakers who include representatives from Mamelodi Sundowns, Turfloop 95 FC, Molemole Academy, Capricorn FC, Limpopo School of excellence, Millenium College, Seshego 11 FC and Polokwane Local Football Association (POLFA) described Ramabula as a humble soul.

“Lesiba was a remarkable player and very humble. He was one of the first players to join the academy in 2014 with us in Botlokwa before we moved to Polokwane. I was happy that he had joined the Sundowns academy, and we were extremely proud. His height was not to his advantage, but he had a big heart and was destined for greater things,” said founder of Molemole Academy and Vice President of SAFA Capricorn Region Tomas Mulaudzi.

Amongst the development clubs, Ramabula played for Mamelodi Sundowns Academy, Molemole Academy and Limpopo School of Excellence.
