Sundowns’ outstanding four players in COSAFA qualifiers

COSAFA has released its Best XI of the regional Zonal qualifiers for CAF Women’s Champions League following the tournament’s completion on Saturday.

Zambia’s Green Buffaloes dethroned Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies 6-5 on penalties. The game ended 0-0 after 120 tiresome minutes.

Banyana Ba Style quartet of Bambanani Mbane, Lerato Kgasago, Rhoda Mulaudzi and Melinda Kgadiete made the list.

At the back, Banyana Banyana star Bambanani Mbane partners Bufalloes defensive trio of Lushumo Mweemba, Agnes Musase and Martha Tembo. She was named the Player of the Match after the entertaining final.

Mbane was part of the Banyana squad that won the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations last month in Morocco.

The highly-rated defender recently missed out on the CAF Interclub Player of the Year and Player of the Year awards which took place on the 21st of July in Morocco.

In the middlefield just in front of the back four, Lerato Kgasago is linked up with Botswana’s Double Action midfielder Lesego Radiakanyo and Buffaloes’ Ireen Lungu.

Kgasago brought a touch of class, an understanding of what the qualifiers games needed and passing abilities that had the power to change the course and destiny of a showdown.

To complete the lethal 4-3-3 formation, Downs Ladies’ Melinda Kgadiete was partnered with her teammate Rhoda Mulaudzi and Double Action’s Balothanyi Johannes.

Kgadiete produced an outstanding performance throughout the competition, and she was rewarded for stellar displays as she was the crowned Player of The Tournament.

Meanwhile, Mulaudzi provided Pace; quick decision-making and an eye for goal made her special. With supply from the midfield maestros and helping the Brazilians to score goals like there’s no tomorrow.

However, both teams have qualified for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League finals in Morocco later this year and will represent the COSAFA region in the continental showpiece.
