JVW FC assumed pole position in the Hollywoodbets Super League following their 1-0 slender win against struggling newcomers City Lads, while University of the Western Cape (UWC) put a stop to defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies’ unbeaten league record with a shock 2-0 defeat.
UWC has become the first team in the league to beat Banyana Ba Style since the formation of the Super League.
As things stand, JVW are flourishing on the summit of the national women’s league with 15 points, just three points ahead of second-placed Downs Ladies. They have each played five games.
Elsewhere, on a dramatic day at Puma Stadium in Witbank, Coal City Wizards thrashed Golden Ladies 6-1 to climb up the log standings.
