Tembo joins calls for return of fans ahead Nedbank Last 16 clash

SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo has attributed the inconsistencies and below-par teams’ performances in South Africa’s topflight due to the absence of fans at stadiums.

According to Tembo, since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, many DStv Premiership sides have not played their best football.

“The game is not the same without fans. Since the pandemic started, it has been difficult. This is also why there is a lack of consistency in terms of performances,” said Tembo as he prepares his troops for the Nedbank Cup 16 game against Platinum City Rovers on Saturday afternoon.

“Fans bring drive to the players, which adds motivation.

“We’d really appreciate it if our fans can come back and start watching us. The game is not the same without them.

Despite Nedbank being a competition that has seen several top teams suffer shock defeats, SuperSport will be expected to beat Rovers, who have Oupa Manyisa in their ranks.
